Grete: Gregor’s sister
Gregor is a man who leads an unhappy life. He lives with his family in a lodge where many people come for bread and breakfast. He hasn’t got a good job and everyone treats him badly. One morning he wakes up as a big insect. He is late for work and his mum calls him. Gregor’s boss also comes to check where he is, but he can’t move. But, when he finally opens the door everybody is shocked. His boss leaves because he can’t stand the sight. His father gets angry because of that, takes the stick and pushes Gregor back into the room.
Gregor falls asleep. His sister brings him some food. They lock him in the room, but he can hear their conversation. He learns that his father is very rich, but Gregor was the one who earned for them because they were lazy.
His mum comes in, but Gregor is too embarrassed so he hides under the sheet. They remove all the furniture so that he can have more space. Gregor breaks out of the room and his father starts throwing apples at him. Gregor is hurt and one apple is stuck on his back. They neglect him. Even his sister doesn’t come anymore.
One day Gregor hears his sister playing the violin and gets out. The people in the lodge are shocked. His father feels embarrassed and they decide to get rid of him. They lock Gregor and he starves to death. His parents and his sister are a bit sad and they ask everybody to leave. They all go for a walk and after some time the family moves away to a different flat.
