The Summary of the Book-A Hero of Our Time Mikhail Lermontov
The author met Maxim Maximovich while he was on the Caucasus mountains. They started to talk about their life and Maximovich told him a story about Pechorin who was in the army with him. He said that Pechorin fell in love with prince’s daughter Bela, but one robber also fancied her.
That robber had a beautiful horse, but he didn’t want to sell it to Bela’s brother. Azmat, Bela’s brother, told Pechorin that his sister will become his if he gets him that horse. Pechorin took the horse and Azamat kidnapped Bela. She didn’t like Pechorin at first, but later that changed. Pechorin didn’t care about her. Later she was kidnapped and killed so Pechorin left the town.
After a while, Maximovich and the writer meet again in one bar. Pechorin stayed there too, but he went to Persia. While Pechorin was in the Caucacus, he was writing diaries and Maxim Maximovich gave them to the writer. After Pechorin’s death, he published those diaries except the part about Pechorin’s entire life.
In his diary he writes about one girl, a blind man and one old woman who he met on his way to the town. In the second part he writes about his friend Grunshnitsky who fancied the princess Mary. Pechorin also fancied Mary, but she hated him because he wanted to split her and Grunshnitsky.
Later, Mary started to like Pechorin, but his ex-girlfriend also wanted to be with him. Later he realized that he fancied Mary. When Pechorin went away, Mary followed him. After some time together, she started to talk about the marriage and he didn’t like that.
Pechorin and Grushnitsky had a gun fight because of Mary and Pechorin won, although he was wounded. He killed Grushnitsky. Pechorin left and this is the way that diary ends.
